The charming-looking boy Ayaan (Ranbir Kapoor) and the funky girl Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) meet in a London bar. After the initial attraction, Alijeh gets to know about Ayaan’s childishness. Therefore, their meeting turns into friendship, and some common interests deepen their bond.
But on a double date, things turn upside down for both of them when Ayaan finds out that his girlfriend Lisa (Lisa Haydon) is cheating on him with Alizeh’s future husband (Imran Abbas).
Alizeh helps Ayan to get rid of Lisa, and then both go for a long vacation. Ayan realizes that he has fallen in love with Elijah, but Elijah wants him to be her friend (basically, She Friendzoned him), and the entry of Elijah’s ex-boyfriend ‘Tabahi’ Ali (Fawad Khan) is the turning point of the movie, who is a DJ at a nightclub. Ali confesses his love for Elijah and wants to have her in his life again and she agrees to go with her.
While two hearts are joining together, Ayaan drowns in misery with his one-sided love. Then suddenly, he meets Saba (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), and she explains new meanings of love to him.
The rest of the movie spins around Man’s feelings for Alizeh and ends with a dramatic climax and critical message; how despite giving your all, sometimes you just aren’t enough for people.
