Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language social problem film directed by Shree Narayan Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Nitin Chandrachud, Nishant Pitti, and Krishan Kumar. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, now known as Kabir Singh , Shraddha Kapoor( a Dayan from Stree ), and Yami Gautam( a versatile actor who showed her talent in movies like Dasvi , A Thursday ) in the lead roles.
The film deals with the issue of inflated electricity bills in rural India and its impact on common people’s lives. The film was released on 21 September 2018.
The storyline of the Movie “Batti Gul Meter Chalu” Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a story about a small town in India where a group of friends, Sushil Kumar Pant (Shahid Kapoor), Sundar Mohan Tripathi, played by Divyendu Sharma aka Munna Bhaiya soon will be seen in Mirzapur Season 3 and Nauti (Shraddha Kapoor) live.
Sushil is a lawyer, and Sundar is a small-time businessman. Nauti is a school teacher and the love interest of both Sushil and Sundar.
One day, Sundar gets an inflated electricity bill and cannot pay it. Despite approaching the electricity board and trying to resolve the issue, he cannot get any help and commits suicide out of frustration. Sushil, his friend, takes up the issue and fights against the corrupt electricity board and its officials to get justice for Sundar and all those who have suffered due to inflated electricity bills.
The film highlights the issue of corruption and how it affects the lives of common people. It also shows the struggles and challenges faced by Sushil in his fight for justice.
