The Storyline of the Movie Bulbbul Bulbbul is the tale of a young lady whose life is surrounded by anonymities. She resides alone at home. Then one day, men in the town were killed by otherworldly powers.
The story begins in the nineteenth century in a town in the Bengal region. When she was five, Bulbbul was married to Indranil, the Bado Thakur. She is close with Satya, Indranil’s sibling, who is nearer to her age. Bulbbul and Satya grow up together, playing and telling each other stories of an evil presence lady (“chudail”). Indranil’s twin sibling Mahendra shows an appeal toward Bulbbul.
After twenty years, Satya gets back from London. In the meantime, Mahendra was killed by a chudail’s assault. His widow Binodini presently lives in a toilet. Indranil has left the town, and Bulbbul has assumed control over his obligations. The town doctor, Sudip, routinely visits to look at Bulbbul’s feet because of an undisclosed occurrence Bulbbul won’t talk about, and different events begin starting from this scene.
Dimri is stunning in her portrayal of the young lady turned strong estate woman. Similarly enrapturing is Dam, her cleverness foe, the perfect opposite in her way of dealing with the abusive household and cultural circumstance in which they become victims.
On the storyline front, Bulbbul is modest. The plot and two-layered male characters could do with some sorting through. Those expecting an exemplary blood and gore film or fright-fest might be frustrated, and Bulbbul is more a statement of Indian patriarchy and gender exploitation than thrills and kills.
Set in the late 18th century in Bengal, the film probes into the notion of upper-class Bengali women taking on Western philosophies of freedom. This Netflix show will leave you stunned and with countless thoughts about how women were and still are exploited behind closed doors. Apart from these, this show’s horror element gives you goosebumps in five minutes.
