Venkat Prabhu’s latest outing Manmatha Leelai was scheduled for theatrical release on Friday. Billed as an adult comedy flick, the film stars Ashok Selvan, Samyukta Hegde, Riya Suman, and Smruthi Venkat in lead roles. However, the makers faced a last-minute obstacle due to a technical glitch, and the early morning shows had to be canceled.
RockFort Entertainment, the production house backing the film, even issued a statement informing everyone that the issue has been resolved, and matinée shows for the film are available across theaters in Tamil Nadu.

Storyline of Manmadha Leelai Manmadha Leelai is a dark comedy thriller by Venkat Prabhu. It aired in the theaters earlier in April 2022 which is said to be a remake of the 1976 movie Manmatha Leelai, starring Kamal Hassan.
The plot of Manmadha Leelai 2022 is intercut between events that happen in two time periods. In 2010, Sathya, a college student, invites himself to the home of Poorni, a girl who he’s been chatting with online. With her ‘father’ (Jayaprakash) going out of town, he plans to get laid. On the other hand, the same Sathya, in 2020, who has become a top fashion designer, invites Leela (an IT worker, who mistakenly ends up at his door), into his home while his wife Anu, has gone to visit her parents with their little daughter. Sathya finds it as the perfect opportunity for a one-night stand.
Venkat Prabhu tells in the movie how these two nights unravel for the main protagonist Sathya, cutting from one event to the other alternately. Sathya is built up as the predator, who makes his moves skillfully to entrap the women and achieve what he wants — sex.
At some points, the movie is flashy and gets larger than life, and includes many twists and turns. It consists of comedy as the main protagonist Sathya tries to hide his wrongdoings and save himself from the tag of infidelity and getting caught. The movie is A-rated and might include scenes that shouldn’t be watched by viewers below the age of 18 years.
