Well, that’s what RK/RKay is about. RK/RKay is quite mawkish yet a comedy film that revolves around a filmmaker whose protagonist escapes from the movie within the movie.
There are two characters in RK and the writer and director-star as both of them. RK is making another film where he is the lead character named ‘Mahboob’ . The movie pays a tribute to the world of cinemas in the 1960s. Most people around him are confused about why he is even making this movie.
When the shooting is finished, editing begins and he is now pondering over the thought that the movie might not come together the way he imagined, that he might have messed up this time. He’s even having nightmares that something horrible is going to happen. And soon enough he gets a call from his editing that something terrible has happened.
Mahboob, the lead character of the movie has eloped. Nobody knows where he is, why did he run, where he can be, there are literally zero traces of him. Turns out that Mahboob is running away from his killers and somehow RK finds him. He brings him home and comforts him. However, Mahboob on the other hand has no clue of where he is and if he is any different from the people around him right now. As time passes, he is told of everything. Now along with that, they must also convince him to go back to the film so that RK can finish it.
