Sabhaapathy – The Storyline Santhanam comes out of the box for this one. Being a stammerer isn’t exactly his area of expertise, which left the fans bedazzled, since there haven’t been many instances where Santhanam doesn’t come up with a counter for anything thrown at him.
The story is located in the area of Srirangam where Sabhaapathy aka Santhanam plays a young man who stammers a lot, and we mean a lot. He falls hopelessly for his neighbour Savithri, played by none other than Preethi Verma.
With nothing to do, Sabhaapathy roams around with his buddy Ramani who is on the verge of making his big break on TV and is only interested in drinking, while holding a grudge with his father Ganpathy, aka the evergreen MS Bhaskar.
The plot becomes interesting when the stammerer stumbles across a suitcase that is stacked with cash and belongs to a corrupt politician by the name of Lucky Raja. With nothing going his way and a stammering problem, our lead character took no time at all to decide what he was going to do.
Every Santhanam film comes off with the same fresh vibe and a comical approach and despite the out-of-the-box style for this one, it more or less fitted his role to perfection. But for the first time, fans supposed that he was playing a role instead of being himself on the big screen. Some even stated the obvious, saying that any other actor could have done the role and it would have made no difference whatsoever.
Many may argue about the overall rating, but we would say that it is a one time watch and more or less is like a lucid dream that ends right after you get out of bed, with the difference being that you might think of the dream again.
