Sthree Sakthi Lottery
Sthree Sakti, which also means women’s power, is a lottery incorporated as part of Kerala lotteries by the government of Kerala to raise funds for the women empowerment program. The cost for each Sthree Sakthi lottery ticket is Rs.40 (previously Rs. 50). The draws are held weekly every Tuesday at 3 pm. Final results will then be announced online at 4 pm the same day, either on the website or the lottery.

You must be at least 18 to be eligible to play and win unless there are laws where you reside that say otherwise.
Here’s How You Play
There will be two printed letters in the series on your ticket(s), where the second letter will range from A to Z. Now, the first letter of each daily lottery will be distinct, but for Sthree Sakthi Lottery, it will be “S.” Hence, the two letters will be “S” followed by whatever letter ranging from A to Z (e.g., SA or SG).
These letters have a particular number combination (like any other lottery). Those who bought the winning combination will be declared winners and can claim their prize money.
How Does the Prize Money Distribution Really Work?
Lottery winners will be ranked from 1st to 7th prize winners, as well as a consolidation prize (given to those who had one or two different numbers from the winning one). Prizes range from Rs. 200 to Rs. 75 Lakh. Consolidation prizes are usually set at around Rs. 8,000 and may be given to a handful of tickets with slightly different numbers from the winning ticket number.
Playing in India (Online or Offline)
Please be mindful that every city or state that legalizes the purchase of lottery tickets will have its website, be sure to do your due diligence to ensure you can safely play. Otherwise, here are the basic steps on how you can play:
- Visit an official website of a lottery tickets seller
- Choose how many tickets you would like
- Choose your lucky numbers to play
- Type in or write down your personal information to officially claim a prize if eligible
- Complete the payment for your purchase
- Sit tight for the results
- Claim your wins if you got winning numbers
Check Your Results
After drawing your ticket, wait until 4 pm on Tuesday and check your results in the website live announcements section. All the information such as the draw number, the winning ticket number, the location of purchase, and the prize will be announced and displayed through the website from where you drew from.
Claiming Your Prize and Dealing with Taxes
If you count your lucky stars and happen to get winning numbers, congratulations! Now, it’s time to claim that well-deserved prize. How you claim it will depend on how much prize money you earned.
In this case, if you win Rs. 5,000, you can claim it from a lottery agent; if you win between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 100,000, you will have to claim it in person at a District Lottery Office. Finally, if you win the first or second prize, you have to claim them at the Directorate of State Lotteries, even if you aren’t from Kerala.
They are (unfortunately) subject to 30% tax for winnings above Rs. 10,000 when it comes to lottery prizes, as they are considered as income. However, rest assured, there will be no additional charges aside. Otherwise, enjoy your prize!
