As the name suggests, ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ is a story of unrequited love bound by the traditions of our society. Directed by Mohit Suri, it is a beautiful movie that will surely make you cry. Undoubtedly the amazing soundtracks add to this movie in making the experience all the more appealing for the viewers.
The Storyline of the Movie ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ Vasudha is a traditional and conservative woman who was married off at a very young age to Hari. Within a year of marriage, Hari disappears, leaving his wife and son behind. For five years, Vasudha has had no clue of the whereabouts of her husband. However, she keeps on waiting for him.
In a chance incident, the lives of Vasudha and Aarav cross. Aarav is the owner of multiple five-star hotels all over the world, and Vasudha works as a florist in one of his hotels. Aarav is impressed by her hard work and dedication to work, so he offers her a job in Dubai. Vasudha accepts the offer after considering the multiple benefits and improvements this job might bring for her son and herself.
Slowly, Aarav realizes that he has fallen for Vasudha, and he confesses his love for her. At first, Vasudha declines, citing the reason that she is someone else’s; however, she can’t ignore her feelings for too long and accepts his proposal.
As Vasudha’s life moves towards happiness, peace, and love, her husband, Hari, makes an entry. Angered upon hearing about Aarav and Vasudha’s love story, he gets arrested and accepts his crimes with the motive of guilt-tripping Vasudha and keeping her away from Aarav.
Hari’s plan works, and Vasudha breaks off her impending marriage with Aarav out of guilt. Aarav gets to know Hari’s truth while trying everything to get him out of jail. While doing so, Aarav dies. When Vasudha learns of Aarav’s death, she leaves Hari and decides to lead her life with her son only, away from Hari.
Hari succeeds in finding her after two years. At their meeting, Vasudha informs him that she was aware of his ulterior motives behind getting arrested and that their lives can’t move together from hereon. Devastated, Hari tells her that one day she will come back running to him for reconciliation.
The movie reaches its climax twenty-one years later with Vasudha’s death and the union of Vasudha and Aarav post-death as Hari decides to spread her ashes at the same place where Aarav died.
