Karnan – The Storyline In southern Tamil Nadu, there are two villages, Melur and Podiyankulam, which are constantly in conflict with each other because of a mere bus stop. People in one of the villages, Podiyankulam, belong to the oppressed community, and they have to use the bus stop of the Melur, which has a community of dominant caste living there. The people of Melur look down on their neighboring village and thus do not like them using their bus stop for the commute.
Karnan, who belongs to Podiyankulam, the village of lower caste, wins a deity sword that no one in the past two years has won. A few weeks later, he participated in the open selection for the reserve police force. However, Karnan’s father is worried about him as he is quite hot-headed and is constantly in conflict with the other villagers. He believes that his nature would lead him into some legal trouble.
A while later, Karnan’s sister is in love with a guy, but one of the villagers, who is also very powerful, is in love with Karnan’s sister and is quite older than the girl. This whole situation is misunderstood by Draupadhi, and she breaks up with Karnan.
Meanwhile, Karnan is again involved in a conflict with the bus driver for not stopping the bus for a pregnant lady. Then, this conflict leads to the downfall of people who support Karnan; they are attacked by police and beaten mercilessly, but Karnan is gone for his police training.
