Late veteran actress Sridevi shows us to what extent a mother can go to bring justice to her child, even if she is not the birth mother.
The movie “Mom” is a violent and disturbing yet captivating revenge thriller. The movie explores the terror and pain that a rape victim goes through, and dutiful filmmaker Ravi Udyawar did a fantastic job of balancing the amount of drama, shock, excitement, and genuine emotions. The film doesn’t make you cringe, like other thrillers that share the same subject of vengeance. It somewhat resembles Kaabil , Ghajini , and Badlapur , as they all portray the tales of revenge.
Through dialogues like “galat aur bahut galat,” it makes us think that vengeance is an optimal choice between wrong and severely wrong. This presents the degree of vengeance or revenges a mother can go through to bring justice to her daughter, who has survived a gang rape but is suffering in her life due to the aftermath of the crime.
The Storyline of the Movie Mom High school teacher Devki Sabarwal (Sridevi) is attempting to win the love of her stepdaughter Arya, who is still haunted by memories of her biological mother and is just 18 years old.
Then, a horrifying crime of rape is perpetrated when Arya is brutally raped by a gang. And Sridevi ends up fighting for justice. Her character is divided between playing a helpless mother whose child is struggling for her life and a stranger attempting to reach her daughter since she does not consider herself her mother. The story begins when Arya is coming from a party, and an SUV carries her, and the men inside it rape her and throw her in the gutter, fighting for her life. She is then taken to the hospital, where she reveals her name after recovering from the physical injuries.
But, the culprits are set free as Arya drank alcohol at the party. Now Devki takes matters into her own hands and sets out a plan to take revenge along with the detective Dayashankar Kapoor (“DK”). The three criminals, namely Baburam, Charles, and Mohit, are punished, but the most hardened criminal, Jagan, comes out of jail to endanger Devki’s family. Will she be able to deal with him and punish him like others, or will she be paying for what she did? To find out, watch the thriller “Mom.”
