A couple married for four years starts experiencing difficulties in their marriage and decides to apply for divorce. In their time apart, the husband falls in love with his wife’s look-alike.
The movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu: Returns’ is a sequel to the movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, which continues with the story of the life of the married couple Tanu and Manu. The movie is a romantic comedy film and holds the record for the highest first-week collections ever for a female-driven film in India. The film has received much praise for Ranaut’s performance in the movie, pulling in many awards and nominations.
The Storyline of the Movie, ‘Tanu Weds Manu: Returns’ The film starts with Tanu’s (Kangana Ranaut ) and Manu’s (R. Madhavan) married life in London. They have been married for four years and are displeased with each other. Tanu gets Manu detained in a mental asylum and returns to her hometown after asking for a divorce. While Tanu returned to Kanpur, Manu was released from the asylum with the help of Pappi (Deepak Dobrial).
After hearing about Tanu, he also decides to go back to India. Upon his arrival, Manu sends a legal notice to Tanu, asking her to apologise to him. But Tanu pays no mind to it, rather she has formed a sort of friendship with her parents’ clever tenant. Manu, on the other hand, goes to a university to deliver a medical speech and stumbles upon a student-athlete, Kusum (Kangana Ranaut), who is a look-alike of his wife, Tanu. Manu gets infatuated with Kusum and starts following her around, hoping to court her.
Soon Manu and Kusum decide to get married, but their marriage is crashed by Tanu, who professes her love towards Manu.
