Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Kapoor, and others bash Maldives ministers and urge netizens to visit Indian islands such as Lakshadweep and Sindhudurg.
On 2 January, our honorable PM Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep island, shared some beautiful pictures, and thanked its netizens for the warm hospitality. He tried snorkeling for the first time and promoted the Indian island as a tourist spot. The deputy minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Mariyam Shiuna took his ‘X’ account and made a derogatory comment on PM Modi’s visit.
He commented, “What a clown. The puppet of Israel Mr Narendra Diver with a life jacket #VisitMaldives.” With this comment, the Maldives minister made fun of not only the Indian PM but Indian heritage as well.

The renowned personalities of B-town including Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and more took their social media handles and urged netizens to explore the Indian island in place of Maldives.
John Abraham took his ‘X’ account and tweeted, “With the amazing Indian hospitality, the idea of “Atithi Devo Bhava’ ‘ and a vast marine life to explore. Lakshwadeep is the place to go.”
Arjun Kapoor wrote on ‘X’, “Adding the beautiful #Lakshadweep Islands to my bucket list. These destinations of our country are not just spots on a map; they’re invitations to experience the hospitality, diverse culture & landscape, that make India such an incredible place to explore. #ExploreIndianIslands”
“Maldives passing hateful and racist comments on Indians. Surprised that they are doing this to a country that sends them the maximum number of tourists.
We are good to our neighbors but why should we tolerate such unprovoked hate? I’ve visited the Maldives many times and always praised it, but dignity first. Let us decide to #ExploreIndianIslands and support our own tourism” Akshay Kumar conveyed in his ‘X’ post.
Maldives Government Breaks the Silence on Controversy
After the huge controversy, the Maldives government cleared its side by stating that the comment was not from the government’s side, that was a personal belief only.
The statement issued by the Maldives government said, “The Government of Maldives is aware of derogatory remarks on social media platforms against foreign leaders and high-ranking individuals. These opinions are personal and do not represent the views of the Government of Maldives. Moreover, the relevant authorities of the Government will not hesitate to take action against those who make such derogatory remarks.”
