Zaira Wasim’s second movie, or the second last movie before she gave up Bollywood and chose the path of her faith, ‘Secret Superstar’ with Aamir Khan after Dangal was a megahit. Zaira, Aamir, and the star cast shine in their respective roles. Cherry on the top is the amazing soundtrack of the movie, which makes it a complete package for the viewers.
The Storyline of The Movie ‘Secret Superstar’ Insia, a young girl living in a very conservative family, secretly dreams of becoming a superstar singer. She never tells anyone her dreams out of fear of her father, but she secretly practices her singing and songwriting skills in her room. One day, she records a song wearing a niqab and posts it on her YouTube ‘Secret Superstar’. The song goes viral, and she suddenly becomes a sensation. A very famous music director based in Mumbai, Shakti Kumar, takes notice of her and makes an offer to Insia to record a song for him. However, when due to her poor grades, her father breaks her guitar, making her even more scared to reveal her true identity to the world, so she refuses and continues to perform anonymously.
One night Insia’s father physically assaults her mother when he gets to know that her mother sold off jewelry to get her a laptop. This is the last nail in the coffin for Insia as she contacts Shakti and asks him to connect her to a divorce lawyer.
She gets the divorce papers ready and presents them to her mother, who gets angry with Insia and refuses to go ahead with Insia’s plan.
Meanwhile, Insia bunks her school and records a song with Shakti and gets nominated for Best Female Singer. But her father gets a job in Riyadh, and he makes his intention of getting Insia married to his friend’s son known to his family.
Will Insia accept her fate, leave her dreams behind, and get married as per her father’s wish? Will this decision of her father be a wake-up call for Insia’s mother?
