Shudh Desi Romance – a fresh love story tried by Yash Raj Movies starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, and Vaani Kapoor
Shudh Desi Romance is the Bollywood version of Runaway Bride; while there is a notable difference in stories, the fundamental idea of falling in love but reluctance, hesitation, and panic while getting married, remains the same. It was released in 2013 and starred Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, and Vaani Kapoor.
The Storyline of The Movie ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ Raghu, a commitment-phobic young man, is a tourist guide in Jaipur who also works as a hired wedding guest for Goyal, a wedding planner. The movie begins with Raghu’s marriage to a woman he barely knows. On the way to his wedding, Raghu meets Gayatri and falls in love with her right away.
Gayatri is a beautiful girl who is independent and lives life on her terms; she is a hired guest at Raghu’s wedding. Raghu gathers some courage and decides to run away from his marriage.
Two weeks later, Gayatri and Raghu’s paths align again, and the duo starts dating and enters into a live-in relationship. In trying to hide their relationship from their neighbors, both of them decide to create a facade of them being siblings.
However, Mr. Gupta, their neighbor, catches them and tries to create a rift between the two. Mr. Gupta succeeds momentarily in his advances, but the couple reconciles and decides to get married.
Nonetheless, Gayatri runs out of their wedding, leaving heartbroken Raghu behind. The story moves forward with the introduction of Tara, the same girl whom Vijay left at the altar. Tara comes into Vijay’s life to seek revenge but slowly starts falling for him. Eventually, they start dating, and Raghu even plans on proposing to Tara to marry him.
The happy couple’s life is disrupted when Gayatri meets Vijay at a wedding. Though initially, Raghu avoids her, they can’t stay apart for long, and Tara catches them kissing in a washroom.
As one would expect, Tara leaves Raghu. Goyal compels Raghu and Gayatri to confess their love to each other and get married. The movie reaches its climax with Gayatri and Raghu trying to run away from their wedding and deciding to live together as before and not be imprisoned by the social construct that marriage is.
